A Wilkins RP Backflow Assembly

What is Backflow Testing?

Why is it Important?

Backflow testing is an annual process used to check and ensure that water flows correctly through your plumbing system, preventing any unwanted reverse flow of water. This reverse flow can cause contaminated water to enter your clean water supply, posing serious health risks. Backflow testing is crucial for maintaining the safety and quality of your drinking water, protecting both your health and your plumbing system.

Compliance and Safety Standards

In North Carolina, annual testing of backflow prevention assemblies is mandated by state regulations to ensure the safety and integrity of public water systems.

These standards are important because they help prevent contamination from harmful substances that can enter the clean water supply through cross-connections. Certified testers must conduct these inspections to ensure that backflow prevention devices are functioning correctly and effectively. Compliance with these standards is crucial for:

  • Public Health: Protecting against waterborne diseases and contaminants.

  • Legal Requirements: Adhering to state and local regulations to avoid fines and penalties.

  • System Integrity: Maintaining the reliability and safety of the water supply system.

We're Certified.

We successfully completed a state-recognized backflow tester certification and recertification program. This comprehensive program includes a 40-hour, five-day course followed by a practical exam, ensuring we are fully qualified to conduct backflow testing. Our training and certification guarantee that we are up-to-date with the latest standards and best practices in backflow prevention, providing you with reliable and professional service.

How it works.

01. Customer Contact

When a customer requests a backflow assembly test, we begin by asking for the address where the backflow device is located.

02. Record Confirmation

We look up and confirm the record of the existing backflow device in the directory of the local municipality.

03. Scheduling

We then schedule a convenient date and time to come out to the property and test the assembly. We ask for a copy of the latest water bill to ensure accurate reporting, which can be sent digitally.

04. Flexible Testing Times

Because testing backflow assemblies requires shutting off the water for a few minutes, we offer weekend and after-hours testing for the customer's convenience.

05. Testing & Reporting

Once on-site, we test the assembly. If it passes, we restore the water supply, notify the customer, and submit the test report to the local municipality. We aim to make annual backflow testing as hassle-free as possible.

If the assembly does not pass, we troubleshoot to identify the point of failure. We then make arrangements for necessary repairs or replacements, which may include ordering parts, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and retesting to ensure compliance with local laws and ordinances.
